You’ve selected your lot, chosen your floor plan, and worked with Emily to lay the groundwork for your dream home. Now comes one of the most exciting phases of the American Heritage Homes process: Your Design Appointment.
From cabinets and countertops to lighting and flooring, this is where you’ll choose the finishes, colors, and details that reflect your personal style. It’s an important step—and a fun one—and Maggie Campbell, our Selections Coordinator, is here to guide you every step of the way.
To keep construction on schedule and help you feel confident in every decision, we’ve created a streamlined, two-part design experience. Here’s what you can expect—and how to prepare.
Where It All Happens
Appointment One: Interior Surfaces – Dublin
Your first appointment takes place at Interior Surfaces in Dublin, where you’ll explore a wide range of flooring and tile options with one of their experienced Design Specialists.
Appointment Two: American Heritage Homes Model
Your second appointment is held at our model home, where you’ll meet with Maggie to finalize the remaining finishes, review key details, and ensure everything is set before construction begins.
5 Tips to Make the Most of Your Design Appointment
-
Gather Inspiration Ahead of Time
Collect ideas from Pinterest, Instagram, social media, or photos of homes you love. Pay attention to what consistently catches your eye—bright and airy, bold and modern, or classic and timeless. These patterns help shape a look that truly fits your style.
-
Think About How You’ll Live in Your Home
Design is about more than aesthetics—it’s about function. Consider your daily routines:
Do you entertain often?
Do you need a dedicated home office?
Would extra storage or space for pets and gear be helpful?Your lifestyle plays a big role in guiding practical, meaningful design decisions.
-
Be Clear About Your Budget
Having a budget in mind allows our team to recommend options that provide the best value and visual impact—without pushing beyond what feels comfortable.
-
Review Your Floor Plan with Fresh Eyes
Before your appointment, take another look at your floor plan. You may realize you’d like built-ins, additional lighting, an accent wall, or enhanced storage. Bring your ideas and questions—we’ll help refine them into thoughtful selections.
-
Trust the Process—and Your Specialist
Our Design Coordinator is deeply familiar with materials, layouts, and current product trends. Her guidance is meant to make the experience inspiring, approachable, and never overwhelming.
